Young film critics get a chance in Rotterdam

By Newsdesk

(18/10/07) - The 10th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) Trainee Project for Young Film Critics is inviting applications for a scheme that offers up to six young film critics from outside The Netherlands a chance to get acquainted with the festival and world cinema.

The Trainee Project for Young Film Critics was created in 1998 motivated by the fact that young and upcoming film critics get few opportunities to explore this range of cinema and the festivals that present it.

Applicants must be under 30 years old, be fluent in English, have demonstrable experience in film criticism in any media, not be established enough to profit from facilities as attending international festivals outside their home countries and have an agreement with printed and/or online media to publish reports on the 2008 edition of the festival, which will take place between 23 January and 03 February.

Successful applicants will be given accomodation, press accreditation to the festival, help in travel costs depending on their country of origin and take part in a programme of meetings. They will be assigned a specific task ranging from attending the FIPRESCI Jury-meetings, covering a festival sidebar or contributing to the IFFR Daily Tiger.

The deadline for application is Friday 09 November. For further information and to apply email press@filmfestivalrotterdam.com.
