(13/03/07) – The 25fps festival is accepting entries for its next edition between 25 and 30 September. Film have to be experimental, run for a maxium of 20 minutes and have been completed after 01 January 2005. There is no entry fee.
Another opportunity comes from Scenewon, a new on-line initiative aimed at "giving worldwide video makers the chance to showcase their work and win a £10,000 first prize (or equivalent currency) for the best short clip (and other prizes for the top ten), voted on-line by the viewers". Viewers can also review other peoples work with cash prizes for the best reviews.
Each competition will revolve around a theme that the clips must conform to and the first one. Launching on-line April 2nd, will be on the theme of global warming. The organisers of Scenewon hope to encourage people to create a whole host of different perspectives on this subject shot across all media be it animation, live action or hybrid genres. Comedy, drama, documentary or any style will be accepted as long as it conforms to the theme. Registration is open now.
Videomakers are invited to submit their works to the curatorial team of Optica 2007, International Festival of Video Art in Gijon, Spain. The Festival will take place from November 16th to 18th. The event is divided into several sections, including independent artists, galleries, documentary, meetings with artists, performances and parties. The deadline for receiving works is 29 July. There is no entry fee.
