(16/12/06) – Oberhausen, one of the major short film festivals in the world, the launch pad for the careers of people like Wim Wenders, is now open to submissions to its 53rd edition which takes place between 03 and 08 May 2007. The festival presents a wide range of forms and genres within the short film format and emphasis is on experimentation. Deadline for submissions is 15 January 2007 (postmark), and there is no entry fee.
Elsewhere in Athens, the Athens Video Art Festival, the self-proclaimed official Greek festival for video art, is also open to submissions until 20 January with no entry fee. Going on to its third edition, it welcomes works of video art, installations and live art.
Further north in Vilnius, Lithuania, the 2007 edition of the Next Festival is also inviting submissions until 20 January. Films should be no longer than 30 minutes and the organisers say they are looking for innovation.
