(07/10/08) – London will get a new addition to its range of book stores specialising in film. Cinéphilia, an offshoot of book publishers Wallflower, opens today in the London’s artistic epicentre, the Brick Lane/Shoreditch area.
The store will stock all Wallflower Press titles, mostly at discounted prices, as well as extensive stocks of titles produced by Kamera Books and Auteur Publishing. There will be a diverse range of general cinema and moving image titles, from film studies, animation and documentary to television studies, new media and artists’ film and video. It will also be stocking an extensive range of titles from Focal Press and other publishers dedicated to the art and craft of filmmaking, as well as various trade and academic presses servicing the subject area.
There will also be a second-hand section and an exchange programme. Customers who bring in saleable film books may b able to exchange them for any new Wallflower Press title at a 50% discount. There will also be a lending facility for students writing essays.
The shop will feature a full range of quality DVDs from independent labels such as Soda, Axiom, Dogwoof, Second Run, Index, ReVoir, Illuminations and more institutionalised distributors such as the BFI.
