Africa United follows the story of five young friends as they travel from Rwanda to South Africa so that football mad Fabrice can take part in the World Cup Opening Ceremony.

The film has been compared to Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire and raises some of the tough issues facing Africa today with a lightness of touch.

Freelance film journalist Jan Gilbert (www.jangilbert.co.uk) interviews two of the film’s young stars: Sherrie Silver, who plays child prostitute Celeste, and Roger Nsengiyumva, who plays Fabrice.

Silver and Nsengiyumva talk about the casting process, why they enjoyed filming in South Africa, and the importance of presenting Africa in a different light.
